Lynn Chadwick joins Stella and Sasha, sharing about her transformative journey through the grief of estrangement from her children as the result of gender ideology. She recounts how she initially immersed herself in advocacy work to cope with the heartache, a move that ultimately undermined her progress toward stability and constructive living. However, Lynn eventually found a new perspective, realizing that her children’s estrangement was not a personal rejection but a reflection of their internal struggles with the truth and her unwavering, unconditional love. She took solace in recognizing that her love was a positive force, her children were rejecting their own discomfort of confronting the truth behind her fierce advocacy for their well-being.
“I almost think our love is a threat to trans. And I realized this eventually, and it was actually very comforting to me when I realized that the reason my children can't be around me is because they know that I love them. And they know that I'm right. And they can't stay on the path that they're on and look at my face, feel my love, even if I don't argue with them…I think that it makes it hard for them to continue in that ideology that they're in. So I think it's helpful to parents to realize that they're not rejecting us, they're rejecting the truth. And so it's hard for them to do both.”
Turning to nature, love, and a little self-exploration of her own in pursuit of healing and acceptance, Lynn gained momentum towards personal growth. She developed a stronger sense of self and resilience, emerging with renewed clarity and purpose.
Lynn Chadwick is a founding member of Themis Resource Fund, an independent, nonprofit, and nonpartisan organization. Themis serves as a financial resource aimed at connecting detransitioned plaintiffs in the United States with attorneys interested in representing their cases. The organization's primary objective is to assist these plaintiffs in securing funding for litigation, enabling them to seek compensation for injuries purportedly resulting from affirmative gender treatment. Having worked in neonatal intensive care as a registered nurse for 28 years, Lynn Chadwick brings a wealth of compassion and resilience to her advocacy work. As the mother of two trans-identified children, she has navigated the pain of estrangement and now channels her experiences into her work with Themis and supporting parents of ROGD (Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria) kids within several other organizations as well.
This episode explores:
Themis Resource Fund's mission and activities.
The ongoing battle against medical malpractice and homophobia.
The importance of community support for young lesbians and detransitioners.
The critical need for legislative change in the U.S. regarding gender-affirming care.
Lynn expresses her deep concern about the potential for re-traumatization among detransitioned individuals who engage in legal battles. She emphasizes the harsh and uncertain nature of these legal processes, where plaintiffs often face aggressive questioning and blame. Lynn’s work with Themis advocates for the dignity and justice of these individuals, underscoring the importance of their narratives and the need for respectful treatment.
